Flawless perfection, a geisha's boon.

(Shriek) When you hear Japanese beauty rituals, doesn't it make your heart pound with joy?

I was ridiculously thrilled, therefore, to be reviewing Tatcha Japanese beauty products. Before I start, I will say that there is a lot to be said for a company that takes care of their customers, I loved the beautiful box in which the products arrived, the lush purple tissue that covered my package and the lovely handwritten note. Alexandra, you rock.

The Who:

Traveling back to the City of 2000 Temples (Kyoto), TATCHA has worked with teams of scientists, scholars and geisha themselves to decipher the rituals and ingredients from this text.  What we uncovered is the very foundation of Eastern skincare and beauty.
TATCHA’s formulas pay homage to the icon of Eastern beauty and our own storied heritage. Now the secrets of the geisha live on through a proprietary process involving the most precious green teas, Okinawa red algae, rice bran and other time-tested ingredients.
TATCHA’s beauty ritual faithfully emulates the finely honed, effortless regimen of the geisha. This elegant ritual is suitable for all ethnicities and ages, but especially for those with combination skin seeking solutions for prevention and repair.

Now for the actual products and the steps to perform the geisha's ritual:

1. Pure Camellia Cleansing Oil:
Each product comes with an amazing list of instructions, so for the first step, you need dry hands and a dry face: remove your makeup and this will condition dry skin. It is recommended that you pump 1-2 pumps into your dry hand and massage onto a dry face. Rinse away with warm water.

2. Polished rice enzyme powder:

This doubles up as a cleanser when you're not wearing your makeup and this can be used mornings and afternoons. You pour one teaspoons' worth onto wet hands and you rub your hands together to make it a creamy froth. You then gently massage it on a wet face avoiding the eye area for 10 seconds and rinse away with warm water. For deeper exfoliation, you can work upto one minute but it is an active product and recommended for a brief time on your skin.

3. Radiant deep brightening serum:

This can be used mornings and evenings for an instant boost of moisture and radiance, existing age spots are guaranteed to lighten and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

4. Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream:

This cream provides long lasting moisture while promoting the skin's naturic synthesis. It is recommended that you massage a pearl size amount, day and night, and this cream absorbs quickly and effortlessly, leaving behind an invisible cloak of silk!
This also doubles as a primer if you need to apply make up later on.

And the TATCHA Aburatorigami: This creme de la creme blotting paper is handmade in Japan with 100% abaca leaf and comes in a fancy paper packet with 30 sheets.

Each sheet measures roughly 3.75 inch x 3.75 inch and is slightly bigger than most blotting papers but perfect for the whole face. It is super thin and soft yet the lattice line makes it more durable than your regular Japanese oil blotting papers. This is perfectly awesome because it doesn't do any more, any less: It's perfect and it's got gold flakes! What?

Overall thoughts: I absolutely loved this process, I typically do not spend a lot of time towards my beauty routine but time teaches us all to be more careful and kind to our skin. This is an excellent step by step routine and each product helped in the following way.

The cleansing oil was a beautiful excellent necessary step towards removing all my makeup: I do not use too much of makeup but it did an excellent job with my challenging eye makeup and pretty much of nothing else.
The rice enzyme powder: The word is definitely effective. There are three different types, gentle, classic and deep and I immediately defaulted to the gentle one and it did. the. trick.
It immediately improved the tone of my face, brightened, softened and exfoliated extremely well.
The radiant deep serum: What can I say? At this stage, you're already feeling bright and perky and this is an excellent serum that does not feel oily or heavy or weighed down in any way.
And the rich silk cream: This cream contains liquid silk so it can't get better than this, folks. It really cannot.

The blotting papers aren't part of the routine but I've found it extremely easy to add it to the few things in my evening dates. It's all just perfect.

TATCHA products are completely free of mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, PEGs, PPGs, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalates.

Overall, TATCHA is a product line thought well and executed even more perfectly. Every step of the way is a pleasure, everything done smoothy and seamlessly.

The geisha's boon can be yours.

With TATCHA.
